Peter de Boer

General Manager – New Zealand

Peter has worked in the recruitment industry for 17 years across Scotland, England, Australia and now New Zealand. His recruitment apprenticeship was served in the electronics industry in Scotland in the 90s, placing Supply Chain, Operational and Engineering candidates into design and manufacturing organisations. He has led teams focused on a wide range of sectors and functional disciplines and sectors and currently has a balanced focus on both public and private sector clients in New Zealand.

Peter has been the General Manager of Recruitment in New Zealand since joining Talent2 in January 2011.

He is responsible for leading the recruitment business in New Zealand, which consists of an established team in Wellington focusing on delivering core roles to the NZ Government, as well as a strong IT business. In Auckland he has a developing business undergoing significant growth to balance Talent2's footprint across the country.

Peter's focus is developing a growth plan and building a sustainable and profitable business.

Prior to 2011, Peter was the General Manager of an international recruitment firm in Wellington for three years. In this position he deconstructed and then reconstructed this business in Wellington, leaving the business well placed with a strong leadership team and broad range of PSA agreements. Prior to this, he was General Manager of Greater Western Sydney and Practice Leader NSW for the Tech and Ops team. After initially running the technical practice across NSW, he then spent 18 months rebuilding the GWS business. He also spent four years as a Director at the same firm in the UK, where he ran a variety of teams across the Scottish business, as well as taking National responsibility for the Engineering sector.

Peter holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Hons), majoring in Business Studies at Edinburgh University. He also has a Diploma in Effective Management from Open University and is a Graduate of the Hillary Leadership Course from Auckland University.

In his spare time, Peter spends time with his family - wife Amy and daughters Anna, Kate and Beth and enjoys fly fishing for trout in New Zealand's amazing rivers. He has played Curling at a national level in Scotland and is now playing in New Zealand. His other interests include golf and pretty much any other sport.

Peter believes that success is about engagement. The difference being working with people and engaging with them is night and day. He says: "Every time we speak to someone we leave a view of our personal brand as well as the Talent2 brand. It's therefore critical that we make every call and meeting count. Ensuring that people know you care and you do what you say you will do, immediately creates a point of difference from the majority of competitors in the industry".
