The Council of Australian Governments (COAG) agreed on August 2, 2011, to a set of major reforms to the organisation, funding and delivery of health and aged care in Australia, further details of which are outlined under the Health Reform tab above.
The reform is designed to deliver:
- decision-making and accountability that is more responsive to local health priorities
- stronger clinician, consumer and community participation
- a more 'seamless' patient experience across sectors of the health system
- a stronger financial basis for the health system
Whilst reform will take place across the nation, some State health systems are currently well aligned with the decentralised model envisaged under the reform. However Queensland currently operates under a centralised model through the vehicle of Queensland Health, so the structural change and consequently the opportunity for improvement in this State will be significant.
The prime vehicle through which the above aims will be delivered, is the creation of 17 Local Health and Hospital Networks (LHHN) across Queensland. These LHHNs will be statutory bodies with their own Governing Councils, accountable to the local community and the Queensland Parliament. Legislation has been enacted to enable these LHHNs to come into effect from July 1, 2012.
Queensland Health has engaged Talent Partners to assist in the international attraction, assessment and selection of the Chief Executive Officers for the new LHHNs. Within this website you will be able to research information regarding the National Health Reform, the specific roles and the regions in which they are based, an outline of employment conditions, guidance for people who may be contemplating relocation, and the ability to submit an application which specifies the roles in which you are interested, and the priority of your interest.
